Historic Preservation Building

This month in conjunction with the Historic Preservation Commission, we are featuring:

James House

James House
700 Pine St.

Arthur (a carpenter) and Ann Carveth Built this house in circa 1900. Their sons, James, Arthur, and Frank, owned the Carveth Brothers & Dalby store located in the State Mercantile Building from 1910 – 1945. Gladys and George James acquired the property in 1938 & ownership has remained in the James family.

National Novel Writing Month: Teen Short Story Contest

If writing 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo is too much for you this month – don’t fret! Participate in the Library’s short story contest instead! All we’re asking for is the best fiction story you can write in 10 pages or less. Complete guidelines (and prize info!) can be found in the Teen Loft. All stories must be turned in by midnight on November 30.
