Breaux Memorial

(left to right) Joe Henson, Lon Shea and John Breaux - Louisville and Mark Wischmeyer - Jamestown

This column of the Downtown Dialog is normally reserved for business, but biz is getting bumped down the column a bit today. Here’s why: I went to take a photo of the John Breaux memorial, which was going to be featured to the left in Tidbits. As I was admiring the sculpture, it crossed my mind that it would be nice to have a real person, or persons, in the photo. At that exact moment, I looked up and three gentlemen were getting out of their car and walking toward the memorial. Now I’ve seen both Joe and Lon a lot in my time here, but I’d never had the opportunity to chat with either of them. While Mark went back to the car to get a pencil, Joe and Lon and I got to share memories of John and introduce ourselves. Coincidence? Perhaps, but I don’t think so. I think it was a bit of Louisville Community magic - courtesy of the spirit of John Breaux.

ps Next time I see Joe or Lon or Mark, I’ll certainly say hello, or at least wave.

Sincerely, Mark Z, Editor, Downtown Dialogue
