June... June... June...
What to say about June? Downtown continues to be somewhat quiet, but more signs of life pop up every day. The trees have leafed and the flowers are blooming! Some restaurants are opening for limited dine-in service, while others are still operating with only takeout and delivery. Shop doors are open and they are ready to welcome you and help with whatever you need... psst, Father’s Day is coming up! Masks and social distancing are now the norm so we can keep one another safe ‒ thank you for your cooperation. Best news is that we are still surviving and we continue to thank everyone for their support that has kept our small businesses up and running through this challenging time. Louisville Strong, indeed!
Louisville Street Faire
It is with a heavy heart that we had to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Louisville Street Faire. With each passing day, it became clearer that we would likely not be able to ensure everyone’s safety this summer. Here is the official statement from the DBA:
The Downtown Business Association (DBA) of Louisville and the City of Louisville regret to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Louisville Street Faire. While there has not yet been specific guidance issued by the State of Colorado and the Boulder County Health Department, the City has notified the DBA that that the City will not be able to permit special events involving large groups for the foreseeable future due to COVID-19. The DBA and City are disappointed, but we agree that the cancellation is necessary to protect the health and safety of all Street Faire participants and the entire community, as well as minimize the spread of COVID-19.
The DBA is working with the City and other local partners to develop alternative virtual programming and explore other ideas to provide entertainment to the Louisville community this summer. We will miss you all and miss the fun times but we hope you will all be ready when we hope to come roaring back in 2021. Please stay safe and healthy through all of this.
Outdoor Dining
On May 26, the City Council authorized staff to implement the closure of the 800, 700, and 600 blocks of Main Street to vehicular traffic for use for outdoor dining. The closure from Walnut to Elm would be block-by-block so that east/west streets and intersections remain open to vehicles. Staff is also looking into outdoor dining options for restaurants on Front Street and in other commercial areas. At the request if City Staff, the DBA has been working with the City, Downtown restaurants, retailers, and others to gather information and plan. If the closure goes forward, it is likely to begin in June and continue through October 5 unless extended by City Council or shortened due to health and safety issues.
Art Walk

As of May 27th, 2020, our Old Towne Taproom is open again! We’re pretty excited to take this first step in the transition back to normalcy! Here’s how it’s going to work:
- The Old Towne Taproom at 604 Main St. is opening up in a limited capacity. The Brewery Taproom in the Colorado Tech Center will remain closed.
- Space is extremely limited. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND (but do not currently require) that you make a reservation. You can do so through the Book Now button at the top of our Facebook page OR the link in our bio on Instagram. A host will seat you when you arrive.
- We will be practicing and enforcing social distancing rules. If you’re in our taproom, we ask that you respect those rules for the safety of yourself, fellow customers, and our staff.
- New menus will be given to each table upon arrival and your bartender will take your order. All our beers will be served in 12oz disposable cups. Every new beer will be served in a new cup.
- Just like when we transitioned to To-Go only, this is uncharted territory for everyone. Policies may change at a moment’s notice. Please be patient with us as we figure things out! Stay tuned to our social media, newsletter, or website for the most up-to-date information.

Summer has finally arrived and we are excited to be featuring Louisville’s very own artist Juni Margrie. Juni Margrie draws, designs and makes her fine porcelain and stoneware functional pieces from her studio basement at home or from ClayArt ‒ a co-op studio in historic downtown Louisville. She is an Australian potter with an engineering background, so her preference tends to be in making utilitarian pieces with good design principles. “I like the idea of my pieces being used, handled, on a daily basis. My goal is to create pieces that bring joy and comfort to our ordinary, everyday rituals at home like our morning coffee, sitting down for an afternoon snack, or sharing a meal with our family and friends around the table.” All of the hand-drawn botanical themed illustrations on the porcelain pieces are made using a ‘mishima’ decorative technique that originates from Korea. The line drawings are carved into the clay while the piece is still ‘leather-hard’, then these carvings are in-filled with some stained clay, with the excess wiped off. The illustrations are then accented with colorful underglazes that are hand-painted on. Stop by and see Juni’s work as well as other local artist’s creations. www.mysavinggrace.net

Share your story with the Historical Museum
The Historical Museum wants to hear your experiences and responses to COVID-19 in order tell our story to future generations. They’ve put together a toolkit for all ages, which can be used as a contribution to historical record, as prompts for a journal, as an educational activity for children and students, as a family history record, and as topics for discussion around the family dinner table.
For kids, there’s also a Historian for a Day Kit.
