Downtown Dialogue - What's Up Downtown

TIDBITS

Faces of Downtown

Caleb Dickinson
Caleb is the co-owner of Fox Property Management with his sister, Jennifer Fox. Their office is on Front Street and the company has grown to 25 people, most of whom are regular customers at Louisville’s downtown lunch restaurants. They have tripled the number of properties they manage and tripled their staff over the past three years by focusing on relationships within their organization and with the people they serve. Fox Property Management is a frequent sponsor of all things Louisville including the Street Faire, Pints in the Park, Summer Reading program, Carriage Rides and other local events that bring the community together. In May of 2016, Caleb created Louisville Live, the free semi-annual event featuring live music throughout downtown. In November of 2019, Caleb was elected to serve on the City Council for Louisville. He and his wife, Katie, live in the newly restored Louisville Hospital with their 3 kids, Mazie, Athena and Zae. In his free time, he is uncomfortable, so he has none.

Historic Preservation Building

This month in conjunction with the Historic Preservation Commission, we are featuring:

The Empire Restaurant
816 Main St.

Just recently historically landmarked, The Empire has been, since 2008, the current incarnation of some of Louisville’s most beloved restaurants. The building had previously housed Colacci’s and Pasquini’s restaurants since 1955. Prior to that time the two buildings that were combined to become Colacci’s served as a home, a telephone office, a commissary for miners, a shoe repair business, a billiard hall, and a barber shop. The original buildings were built in the late 1800’s. The Empire’s neon sign itself is a treasured landmark in downtown Louisville. It has been enhanced over time to reflect the current restaurant’s name, while otherwise preserving its distinctive design.

Lastly, thank you to all the citizens and visitors who continue to patronize the businesses downtown by eating, shopping, and utilizing the services. These businesses continue to operate because of your generosity and enthusiasm for our vibrant downtown. Louisville truly IS downtown! Best wishes for a fantastic 2020!

Art Walk is Dark in January

Wildwood Guitars

Farewell to Wildwood
As many may have seen, our beloved and long time Main Street neighbor, Wildwood Guitars, has recently relocated from downtown to the Colorado Tech Center. Steve Mesple and his family brought Wildwood to downtown more than 30 years ago, originally as a small studio for lessons and selling little things like picks and strings for the students, which then expanded to other instrument accessories to support the needs of the local school band programs. From there they added a few guitars and few more until it soon became the Colorado destination for all things guitar. Many may remember their band, Wind Machine, which was also a family affair. We will miss seeing the Wildwood family downtown, but we wish them the very best for their future endeavors. To swing by and say hello, Wildwood Guitars is now located not too far away at 500 S. Arthur Ave., Ste. 700, Louisville, CO 80027. For more info visit wildwoodguitars.com
